WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE OF ‘SECRETS FROM A HORSE TRAINER’S JOURNAL’

This book, by Mary Rose FBHS, designed and illustrated by Martha Carleton brings together in a gift edition a comprehensive collection of short essays detailing the progress of training horses following the United States Dressage Federation Pyramid of Training guidelines.

Mary Rose has been riding all her life and has been a professional instructor certified by the British Horse Society since 1963. She is one of the small and honored group who has earned her place amongst the Fellows of the British Horse Society, a valued distinction in the international world of classical horsemanship. She brings years of expert knowledge accumulated by training horses and riders at all levels both in the U.S. and Europe. She has competed successfully in Europe and the U.S. in the top levels of dressage, jumping and eventing and has published four books on horse care, training and competition.

Mary was a founding member of the United States Dressage Federation and a dressage and eventing judge in the U.S. for ten years.

In “Secrets From a Horse Trainer’s Journal” Mary offers brief, explicit answers to many common problems experienced in the every day care and training of horses. She offers her own philosophy of training without force to achieve true partnership with the horse in lightness, grace and true connection. These essays are designed to remind the rider of the essentials for achieving her goals and answer some questions that will arise during a training session. Riders might read a particular section just before a ride or just before going to sleep at night to provide ideas and answers to help during the training session.
